Syria has been embroiled in a civil war for over a decade, although the intensity of the conflict has decreased in recent years. The clashes are taking place in areas bordering Idlib and Aleppo provinces, some 6 miles (10 km) southwest of the outskirts of Aleppo city.
Mohammed Bashir, who leads the so-called 'Salvation Government,' announced at a press conference, 'The aim of this operation is to push back the sources of fire from the criminal enemy at the front line.'
According to Anadolu, the opposition has taken control of 56 villages and other facilities, occupying a territory of 400 square kilometers in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. They have also seized heavy weapons, vehicles, and warehouses.
