New Decision Takes Effect from December 10

On November 28, the Government adopted a decision according to which the operation of vehicles without appropriate winter tires will be prohibited from November 15 to March 31 inclusive.

In particular, operation of a vehicle will be prohibited if:
1) light passenger cars and cargo vehicles with a permissible maximum mass of up to 3.5 tons do not have winter tires installed,
2) the residual tread depth of winter tires intended for operation in icy or snow-covered road conditions is 4 millimeters or less while driving under such conditions,
3) the operation of vehicles will be prohibited in June, July, and August if they are equipped with blunt anti-slip tires.

Administrative measures will be in place for violations of the specified requirements. Creating a safe environment for the life and health of citizens is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Dear road users, the Ministry of Internal Affairs urges you to adhere to traffic safety rules and, in light of the upcoming legislative changes, to acquire winter tires with permissible tread depths, demonstrating conscious, lawful, and law-abiding behavior.

The decision will take effect on December 10.
