Russia Rejects the Concept: Putin Signs New Law
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that prohibits the promotion of the "Childfree" ideology, which advocates for the conscious decision not to have children.
The law imposes penalties for violations: individuals face fines of up to $4,000, officials up to $8,000, and legal entities up to $50,000. In cases of "propaganda" among minors, the fines double.
If the promotion occurs through media or online platforms, fines are set at up to $2,000 for individuals, $4,000 for officials, and $40,000 for legal entities.
Foreigners risk facing fines of up to $1,000 or detention for up to 15 days, followed by deportation from Russia.
The law will also prohibit the adoption of Russian children by citizens of countries where gender reassignment is permitted.
