France Does Not Rule Out Any Assistance Options, Including Sending Troops to Ukraine
France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barot stated in an interview with BBC News that there are no "red lines" for Paris when it comes to supporting Ukraine, indicating that this also applies to attacks on Russian territory.
Barot noted that Ukraine could use French long-range weapons for defensive purposes against targets located in Russia. However, the minister did not specify whether these have been deployed.
He emphasized that Western partners should not impose any limitations on their support for Ukraine. "Of course, if we want to do more, we will have to spend more, and I believe we must respond to these new challenges," he added.
In response to a question about whether this means France is open to deploying its troops if necessary, Barot replied that Paris "does not rule out any scenario." It is worth noting that this position was previously voiced by President Emmanuel Macron at the beginning of the year.
Barot also mentioned that Paris is "open" to the idea of inviting Ukraine to join NATO. "We are open to providing an invitation, and we are working to align our position with our partners and allies," BBC quoted him as saying.
