Protesters Forced to Leave Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi
Law enforcement officials have forced protesters to vacate Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi. The demonstration was broadcast on local television channels.
Hundreds of citizens remained overnight in the vicinity of Tbilisi State University, where the opposition held a protest against the results of the parliamentary elections held on October 26. Eventually, a significant number of police appeared on the avenue, compelling people to leave the protest site and redirecting participants toward the adjacent Melikishvili Avenue.
During the removal of protesters, there were no arrests or clashes. As was the case the previous day, when Ministry of Internal Affairs staff expelled citizens from the same area, demonstrators continue to stay on Melikishvili Avenue. Police blockades prevent them from returning to Chavchavadze Avenue.
