VIDEO: Tension in the Center of Tbilisi
In the early hours, the police of Georgia carried out the first arrests of participants from a pro-Western opposition demonstration near the tent camp and barricades in central Tbilisi. They then dismantled the barricades and removed the vehicles that protesters had used to block the streets of Tbilisi, according to local media reports.
Following the operation, special forces left Chavchavadze Avenue, with only police and municipal service workers remaining at the rally site. Water trucks and fire-rescue vehicles are being withdrawn from the area.
It is noteworthy that supporters of the pro-Western opposition have been blocking the area adjacent to Tbilisi State University for over a day, setting up tents, toilets, and even washing stations for the participants of the action.
