‘Since my political team is against such things, I decided to resign’: Parakar Mayor
‘Hraparak’ reports: On November 16, there was a shooting and murder in Yerevan’s 17th district. 42-year-old Arthur Manukyan was killed, and Parakar’s mayor, Lyudvig Gyulnazaryan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, also sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Authorities are searching for Gyulnazaryan's friend in connection with the murder.
Yesterday, we spoke with the Civil Contract mayor, who was elected on May 31, 2024. It should be noted that the former mayor is also facing criminal prosecution. He stated that he decided to resign due to the murder that occurred on Sunday. ‘I have nothing to do with the murder; I happened to be at the crime scene completely by coincidence; I was just dropping off my friend. Since my political team is against such things, I decided to resign until everything is clarified in the investigation. But that’s not related; I support the Prime Minister and consider myself a member of the political team.’
