Mobile Shelters for Protection Against Nuclear Explosions Launched in Russia
Russia has launched mass production of mobile shelters designed for protection, including during nuclear explosions. This initiative has been developed by the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergencies (VNII GOChS) and is being produced in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to a press release from VNII GOChS, the start of mass production is supported at the state level. The Institute noted that the mobile shelter provides protection against various threats, including natural disasters and man-made incidents.
The standard configuration includes two modules, providing space for 54 people and a technical block. The capacity of the structure can be increased by adding additional modules.
The developers have highlighted mobility as the main advantage of the shelter. The structure can be relocated and connected to existing utility systems. “The launch of mass production of the modular shelter is an important step towards enhancing citizen safety. In the future, such developments will lead to the creation of new effective systems for the protection of the population,” added VNII GOChS.
