I Leave Without a Scandal: Karen Andreasian
Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Karen Andreasian, has resigned. He announced this on his Facebook page.
"I want to preemptively step away from the series of dismissals being circulated. I am no longer resigning from either the presidency or the membership of the Supreme Judicial Council. Everything is apparently clear, but I do not wish to disclose the deeper reasons. Whatever I say, countless interpretations will arise, and many false hypotheses will be put forward. I have already experienced this.
Instead, allow me to boast a little and say that I have pulled the judicial system out of a disgraceful crisis. Those on the inside know this for sure, and they will likely accept it (except for a few and their close ones, whom I have hurt for the sake of the system's surgical treatment).
I have also laid dozens of institutional foundations that, if not tarnished, will benefit everyone entering the courts in a year or two. All our current failures in the judicial system are of a medium-term nature because the pressing legitimate public demands could not be met in two years, and we did not even want to satisfy the unjust expectations.
To adequately explain why and how everyone’s positive expectations from the judicial system fell apart, I would need to write volumes. The text of the resignation is too little for that.
I express my sincere gratitude to all the honest and professional judges and judicial employees who exist and have increased in number within the system. I thank the legislative and executive branches for supporting our crisis management and, of course, for entrusting me with this very difficult but important position, led by the Prime Minister, as well as former and current members of the Supreme Judicial Council.
I leave without a scandal, bitterness, or disappointment and have endured the longest in this toxic position. I sincerely believe in the vision of having a just court in a strong Armenia in the future. I will continue to support this great dream in different capacities," stated Karen Andreasian, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.
