Civil Contract MP on Controversial Resignations

During Friday's government session, the Prime Minister expressed his observations and grievances regarding the judicial system, the state of crime, and the rule of law in general in Armenia, stating that decisions would be made. And decisions were indeed made. This was stated by Hayk Konjoyan, an MP from the 'Civil Contract' faction, during parliamentary briefings.

According to him, nothing is surprising in this context. “People in Armenia have a demand for justice, and we emphasize that the demand for justice must be redefined from an emotional requirement to an institutional reality. In this regard, there are actions taken, but there are also omissions, actions that have not been taken, and the Prime Minister spoke clearly about that. This is also a logical continuation of that process; it should be viewed from a systemic and personnel perspective, rather than from an internal political or pre-election one. There is no such thing,” Konjoyan noted.

Regarding rumors in the media that Civil Contract MPs Hovik Agazaryan and Narek Zeynalyan would resign, the MP stated, “You know that a disciplinary process has been initiated within the board of the 'Civil Contract' party, which arose after the parliamentary hearings. That process has yet to be discussed.”

Fellow MP Vahagn Aleksanyan also remarked, “We will properly inform about the consequences and decisions following the discussions.” When asked if there are grievances against Nikol Pashinyan, and if those grievances could escalate to the point where he too may resign, Hayk Konjoyan responded, “Nikol Pashinyan is the elected Prime Minister of Armenia; he and the ruling force were elected by the people of Armenia during the 2021 parliamentary elections. During the upcoming parliamentary elections, the people of Armenia will evaluate all political forces, including us. We have also promised to establish justice in Armenia; that path, no matter how difficult it is, remains feasible and accessible in our conviction, and we will do everything to succeed on that path.”

It is noteworthy that earlier we reported that six high-ranking officials had submitted their resignations.
