Video: Will It Be Possible to Import Gas from Azerbaijan? Mesropyan to Grigoryan

During a session in the National Assembly, Anna Grigoryan, a member of the 'Armenia' faction, asked Mesrop Mesropyan, the candidate for the chairmanship of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), whether it would be possible to import gas from Azerbaijan in the near future.

Mesropyan stated that he cannot assert, confirm, or deny the possibility of importing gas from Azerbaijan soon. He mentioned, 'This is not my decision at this moment, and even if I am elected, it won't be up to me. I can say that 60-65% of our electricity is generated from imported nuclear and gas fuel, and these two energy sources are primarily imported from Russia, and this is a fact. It is impossible to ignore this fact.'

He further shared his concerns about discussing this topic on social media, stating, 'I have made some posts on Facebook, and now you keep asking me about them. I will never delete them. I am just in a dilemma about how to respond, so that journalists do not misuse my words tomorrow.'

Ruben Rubinyan advised Mesropyan not to respond to such questions, saying, 'They are simply provoking you, so that they can send you to the relevant place in the future. What is this all about?'

In response to the opposition's perspective regarding Mesropyan's pro-European stance, he said, 'Yes, I studied in France and had opportunities, but before going to France, I was 27 years old and grew up with Russian values. During my last vacation, I spent a lot of time in St. Petersburg and Moscow, and many people today can come from pro-Russian backgrounds but not be pro-Russian in content at all.'
