VIDEO: Berets Were Hitting, Breaking, Beating: Sukiasyan to the Opposition
If you observe year by year how much equipment has come to Armenia, how much production is generated, how much is exported, the difference in export volumes, you will be grateful for the loans taken. This was stated by Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, during the discussions of the 2025 budget in the National Assembly.
"We propose that they take more loans, acquire more equipment, develop gardens, intensive gardens, and industry. I want to say that the new Armenia has constructed roads, built schools, built hospitals, and the state bodies of the new Armenia operate under legislation," he said.
Addressing Arthur Khachatryan's call to check the mental health of the red berets, Sukiasyan noted: "Don't you ask how in 2007, the police assaulted the people with automatic weapons, going to homes and taking people out, starting to hit their legs with batons? Now you come and say that the beret was looking aggressive. I say they were hitting, breaking, beating, taking people, and then beating them in jail, also beating them in police stations. We have interacted; now what do you want? He's saying that the beret was very aggressive," he stated.
Sukiasyan also mentioned that today, the state institutions in Armenia are very strong: "Gegam Manukyan is saying, 'Do you know what, you've created an external intelligence agency, and you took one person from there?' Firstly, when you created the external intelligence agency, you did not vote for it. The external intelligence agency is one of the most important structures of the Republic of Armenia. As for where they get their information from, that shouldn't concern the citizen, and it shouldn't concern the deputy. That should be the most classified service. Firstly, I don't know why this information was given to him, is it one person or 45 people that have the right to speak out about it? You didn’t provide an answer to that in your speech, Mr. Kocharyan, it shouldn't be allowed.
We are saying to optimize, he says they have acquired electric cars; of course, they should acquire electric ones so that they don’t steal that gasoline. Now those thefts don’t exist. Thousands of kilometers of roads are being built in Armenia.
When you talk about emergency services, the emergency services used to arrive, and by that time, the poor citizen would have already died due to the potholes and there was no access. The road has been constructed; it has come together; it may not be Class A, it may be Class B, but it’s such a road that even tourists are surprised by how good your roads are," he added.
The deputy also discussed the changes made in the healthcare sector: "In healthcare, we have made considerable progress. Our commercial sector, private healthcare facilities are already engaged in healthcare tourism, and we have quite significant achievements. Why does a medical tourist come to the Republic of Armenia? There are three important reasons: first, the quality of doctors, second, the quality of equipment, and third, the conditions in which they will undergo surgery or post-operative recovery. Now we need to increase those numbers so that we can also be among the best in healthcare tourism in the region.
I agree with you on many issues that we still do not have that degree of governance, that degree of public awareness in Armenia. And there's one more issue that you've been hammering on for the sixth year now: you always talk about salaries and various kinds of allowances. Are you joking? Today, the public sector is in a very difficult situation because salaries are very low; the private business in the Republic of Armenia offers quite high salaries. We, and you as National Assembly deputies, should ask the government as concerned individuals to raise salaries so that higher-quality personnel come to work in the public sector," stated Khachatur Sukiasyan.
