Is Tiknizyan Ready to Take on Mkhitaryan's Role?

Nair Tiknizyan, a player for Moscow's Lokomotiv and the Armenian national team, responded to a question regarding whether he is prepared to assume the leadership role of the national team following the departure of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a player for Inter, in an interview with RB Sport. ArmSport reports.

“Everyone should be a leader on the field. That’s what we strive for. There’s no need to create a particular idol in the team. Everyone should demand of themselves and be responsible for their position. We are on the path of developing that,” stated Tiknizyan.

“The team is indeed young, it is forming, and a generational change is taking place. Last year we had a very bright performance in the European Championship qualifiers. Now the results are somewhat poorer, but we are gaining momentum, and if God wills, our game will only improve,” he added.

Mkhitaryan concluded his international career in 2021, scoring 32 goals in 95 matches for the national team.
