What to Expect from NATO If Trump Collaborates with Putin: Bloomberg
NATO and the Western security framework face a "bleak" future if Donald Trump, the victor of the U.S. presidential elections, collaborates with Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, writes Bloomberg columnist Max Hastings.
“Europe is preparing for a new life at even greater distance from America than since 1941. The overall picture is clear: if newly elected President Donald Trump fulfills his promise to work with President Vladimir Putin to address the Ukrainian issue, then the future of NATO and the West’s collective security will be grim,” Hastings writes.
The columnist suggests that U.S. President Joe Biden will be the last leader in the White House who believes that the security of Europe is a “vital” interest of the United States. “Strategic confrontation with China will dominate Washington's policy in the coming years,” the author believes.
