State of Emergency in Amsterdam: Dozens of Pro-Palestinian Protesters Arrested
Police officials in Amsterdam have arrested several dozen individuals participating in an unauthorized demonstration in support of Palestine, according to reports from Algemeen Dagblad, citing law enforcement sources.
A state of emergency has been declared in the city until Thursday morning, November 14, prohibiting public gatherings during this period.
Approximately one hundred people gathered at Amsterdam's Dam Square despite the police ban. Following several warnings, law enforcement began to clear the protesters from the square. Those arrested were taken away in buses.
According to an Algemeen Dagblad reporter, the atmosphere in the square did not seem very tense, but rather amicable.
On November 8, following the football match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv, fans of the Israeli club were attacked. The assailants were armed with cold weapons, and some carried Palestinian flags while shouting pro-Palestinian slogans. According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at least ten Israelis were injured in the incident.
