Shooting Incident: Two Dead, Four Injured in Ararat Province

On November 8, at 21:00, the "Artashat" medical center reported to the police that citizens sought medical assistance for gunshot wounds. Fifteen minutes later, another report was received from the same center: three of the four citizens who sought medical assistance are receiving treatment, while 15-year-old Ruben Rubenyan, a resident of Azatamartikner Street, died in the operating room. This information was released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ararat regional police, along with community police units from the Ararat region and patrol officers, arrived at the scene within minutes to prevent further developments. Also present were Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aram Hovhannisyan, his deputies, and representatives of the ministry's leadership.

As a result of operational and investigative measures taken, it was determined that on November 8, around 20:20, near the road leading from Artashat to Vostan village, during a dispute related to children, 46-year-old Artak Matevosyan, a resident of Azatamartikner Street, and a 45-year-old man from Aghayan Street fired at each other with firearms in their possession. Consequently, Artak Matevosyan died, while the 46-year-old man was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

As a result of the incident, two individuals have died, and four others have sustained injuries.

Thanks to the immediate operational measures taken by the police, further developments were prevented, and the cause of the dispute and other related circumstances, which are not subject to publication at this time, have been revealed.

According to currently available information, one of the firearms used in the shooting is a hunting rifle registered in the name of the shooter. There have been arrests made within the initiated criminal proceedings. Investigative actions, as well as operational, investigative, and preventive measures are ongoing.
