VIDEO: Alen Simonyan on His Security Detail
"From the very first day, I have refrained from using the police escort vehicle that was mandatory. This was stated by the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, during a live broadcast on Radio Aurora, while discussing his security detail.
“Approximately a year later, I talked to the head of the special police about reducing the number of people who accompany me and to have one vehicle removed. In response, I received a refusal because the people ensuring my safety would be held accountable under the law if anything were to happen to me,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly.
According to Simonyan, this is neither his choice nor his desire. “It is very difficult and very unpleasant. Imagine living with six men that you did not choose. That is all you need to know about it,” noted Alen Simonyan.
