Trump to Undertake Sharp Actions Against Iran
Following his inauguration, Donald Trump is set to sharply intensify sanctions against Iran and limit oil sales. This was reported on November 7 by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with Trump's preliminary plans.
During his first presidency, Trump had a negative stance towards Iran, terminating the six-party agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which aimed to limit Iran's nuclear weapons development. He also promoted a strategy of 'maximum pressure,' hoping that Iranian officials would abandon their nuclear ambitions, cease funding and training what the U.S. considers terrorist groups, and improve their human rights record.
