Drugs Discovered at Workplace: Investigative Committee

A 40-year-old resident of Yerevan was found to have large quantities of illegal drugs at his workplace, with intentions to distribute them. This information was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

It has been revealed that the 40-year-old citizen works at a hotel-restaurant in the Ararat province, and he obtained the drugs from an unidentified citizen of Iran.

“Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, on November 5, 2024, an individual working as a waiter at the same hotel-restaurant was arrested on reasonable suspicion of illegal possession, use, and distribution of drugs. During a personal search, a substance resembling 'crystal' was found, which according to his statement, was 2.42 grams of methamphetamine, obtained from the 40-year-old man,” the announcement states.

It is noted that at the workplace of the 40-year-old resident of Yerevan, 772 grams of marijuana, 559 grams of hashish, and 274 grams of substances resembling methamphetamine were discovered, all packaged, along with numerous zip-lock bags and scales.

An appropriate examination has been scheduled. Additionally, during a search of the individual's apartment, around 500 packets of various types of cigarettes, both local and foreign production, were found and seized without excise stamps.

Based on the sufficient evidence gathered, public charges have been filed against the 40-year-old man. He has been arrested and will be presented to court, facing accusations under Article 393, Part 3, Sub-point 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (illegal trafficking of drugs, psychoactive substances, or their analogs for the purpose of distribution or illegal sale).

A motion has been submitted to the court to apply detention as a measure of restraint. The investigation is ongoing.
