Trump's New Term Will Be Iran's Toughest Test Since 1979, CNN Reports

The victory of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential elections could become the biggest challenge for the Islamic Republic of Iran since 1979, according to CNN.

The report states that the new U.S. administration will carry out a campaign of "maximum pressure" on Tehran, which could intensify isolation and disrupt the economy of the republic.

Trump's election may also give Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an opportunity to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, CNN notes.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that if Trump returns to the White House, he is likely to revert to the policy of pressuring Iran.

Voting in the U.S. elections concluded on the morning of November 6. The results have not yet been officially finalized, but according to U.S. media, Trump has already gathered around 300 electoral votes, needing 270 to win. He has already declared himself the 47th president of the United States.

The ruling Democratic Party candidate, Kamala Harris, has conceded her defeat and referred to the Republican candidate as the elected president.
