Ambassador on Zurabishvili's Controversial Post About Lori
The Ambassador of Georgia to Armenia, Georgi Sharvashidze, has deemed the actions of Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili unacceptable after she shared a post from a Georgian tour operator on her Facebook page, which depicted Armenia's Lori Region as "historical Georgia."
Responding to a question from Armenpress, the Ambassador addressed this topic, stating:
- "President Salome Zurabishvili shared a post from a Georgian tourism operator on her personal Facebook page, which has stirred some turmoil within the Armenian society. How would you comment on that?"
- “Georgia and the Republic of Armenia have special relations founded on the centuries-old strong friendship, trust, and mutual respect of our peoples. Georgia and Armenia steadfastly and unreservedly support each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders. Additionally, our countries successfully collaborate in various fields, both bilaterally and in multilateral formats.
The strategic partnership declaration signed between Georgia and Armenia in 2024 has elevated those relations to a qualitatively new level, which will further deepen our multifaceted cooperation and positively affect the stability and development of the region in the future.
Any attempt to cast a shadow on the exemplary cooperation between our countries and the centuries-old friendship of the Georgian and Armenian peoples is unacceptable," Ambassador Sharvashidze emphasized.
Recently, President Salome Zurabishvili shared a post from a Georgian tour operator on her Facebook page that described Armenia's Lori Region as "historical Georgia."
