Russia to Appoint New Ambassador to the U.S.
It will soon be announced who the new Russian ambassador to the United States will be, as his candidacy is being registered. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"The procedures will be completed soon, and additional information will be provided," Lavrov said during a press briefing, adding that Moscow would not create obstacles in this matter.
"We proceed from the fact that the Republican administration in the U.S. will also be interested in appointing a new ambassador to Russia," Lavrov noted.
Currently, the U.S. ambassador to Russia is Lynn Tracy, who previously served as the U.S. ambassador to Armenia.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recalling Anatoly Antonov from the position of Russia's ambassador in the United States, who has since returned to Moscow.
