Ukraine Planned to Capture Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, Says Russian Defense Ministry
Ukraine had planned to capture the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, involving 20,000 soldiers in the operation, but the attack was thwarted, stated the Russian Defense Ministry.
The commander of the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, Igor Kirillov, displayed maps of the planned operation during a press conference. He announced that Ukraine had intended to deploy 20,000 soldiers, 27 tanks, 50 units of armored vehicles, 30 units of artillery, and 5 multiple launch rocket systems to seize the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant.
Kirillov also noted that after the failed attempt to capture the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, Ukraine attempted to regain control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, but that endeavor also did not succeed. Such attempts were also made by Ukraine in 2022.
