The People of Georgia Want Normal Relations with Russia, Medvedev Says
The victory of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party in the elections indicates that the people of Georgia want the development of normal economic relations with Russia, said Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
In an interview with RT, Medvedev stated that the victory of this party means that the people in Georgia are pragmatic and do not wish for a repetition of the events of 2008.
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 26. According to the Central Election Commission, the ruling "Georgian Dream" party, which advocates maintaining relations with Russia and opposes anti-Russian sanctions, received 53.93% of the votes.
"They want to develop normal economic relations with the Russian Federation," Medvedev said.
