Women in Afghanistan May Be Barred from Speaking at Home
According to a new decree issued by the Taliban regime, elderly women in Afghanistan can now prohibit other women residing in their home from speaking in each other's presence and even from reading the Quran aloud.
In August of this year, the Taliban already restricted women from speaking to one another or singing in public, looking at men, and, in general, regulated everything that a woman is allowed to see or hear by law. Now, restrictions have also been imposed within the home.
It should also be noted that the Ministry for Promoting Virtue and Preventing Vice in Afghanistan has banned the publication of any visual images displaying living beings, including in official broadcasts.
