VIDEO: Genocide Recognition is not a Priority for Papoyan Either
The development of the economy is the top priority for Armenia. This was stated today, October 31, by the Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan during a conversation with reporters, addressing Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's statement that genocide recognition is not the top priority for Armenia.
“Unfortunately, for a long time, the economy, investments, and the external political bloc have not been priorities. The main agenda in meetings with numerous ambassadors is the development of trade and economic relations between their country and Armenia. Security issues are resolved when the economy develops. No issue will be resolved, including the ones you mentioned, as long as the economy is not up to par. When the economic issue is resolved, it inherently addresses security issues, as well as issues concerning culture and education, health care, and our country's international standing. Economy, economy, economy, and no other problem,” the minister emphasized.
According to Papoyan, with this logic, they have succeeded and are experiencing economic growth: “In 2022, we had an economic growth of 12.7%, in 2023 – 8.3%, and in the first half of 2024 – 6.5% economic growth. We are currently ahead of the average expected economic growth of 7% mentioned in our electoral program.”
