Is it possible for prisoners to be released in exchange for participation in COP29? - Ararat Mirzoyan

In both the context of COP29 and beyond, we are constantly in discussions with Azerbaijan and actively pursuing the immediate release of prisoners and other detained individuals. This statement was made by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during the preliminary discussion of the 2025 budget in the National Assembly, responding to a question from Armenia faction MP Armen Rustamyan about the possibility of releasing prisoners in exchange for participation in COP29.

“This issue is one of our top priorities. Our participation in COP29 is not confirmed in any way. We have received an invitation, but we have not shown any official response or attitude towards this matter, of course, we do not exclude it, but we need to understand what this is about in the context you mentioned,” he said.
