Emma Poghosyan Becomes European Champion

Emma Poghosyan, a member of the Armenian women’s weightlifting team, has secured the gold medal at the European Under-20 Championship. The competition is currently taking place in Poland, featuring the under-20 and under-23 categories for weightlifters.

In the 81 kg weight category, two athletes were represented from Armenia: Emma Poghosyan and Alina Sukiasyan. Alina Sukiasyan lifted 93 kg in the snatch and 109 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 202 kg, which placed her only 6th in the category.

Emma Poghosyan excelled in the clean and jerk, completing three successful lifts of 95, 98, and 100 kg, earning her the small gold medal in this event. In the clean and jerk, Poghosyan lifted 118 kg in one attempt, clinching the gold medal for this discipline. With a total lift of 218 kg, she became the European champion at the under-20 level.
