Agreement of the RA Migration Service with the EU
Austrian Republic hosted the annual Vienna Migration Conference, which was also attended by Armen Ghazaryan, the head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. The conference gathered around 200 politicians, high-ranking officials, experts, and professionals from various countries to discuss migration policy development.
The Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that Armen Ghazaryan met with Nina Gregori, the Director of the EU Asylum Agency. They discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, particularly the organization of training courses for staff of the Migration and Citizenship Service to utilize the relevant tools of the EU Asylum Agency.
The prospects for cooperation were discussed during a meeting with Mikhail Shpindelger, the Director General of the IOM Regional Office. Ghazaryan also met with Sedef Dirin, the head of the migration dialogue and cooperation department at IOM, where they presented the reforms in Armenia's migration sector and discussed future cooperation plans, particularly regarding the implementation of new initiatives within the framework of visa liberalization.
During the meeting with the representative of the EU Agency for the Operational Management of IT Systems in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA), an agreement was reached on further cooperation with eu-LISA, particularly regarding the digitalization of migration processes, the launch of databases and large-scale IT systems, technology exchange, and other issues.
