Chief of General Staff Discusses Border Situation
Currently, there are no threats or dangers indicating that Azerbaijan could launch an attack. The situation at the borders is assessed to be relatively stable. This was stated today, October 28, during a discussion with journalists in the National Assembly by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Edward Asryan.
"At this moment, there is no risk of military escalation," he announced.
In response to comments that the country’s political leadership claims that military escalation could occur after COP29, Asryan responded, "What do you mean by the near future? After COP29 could mean in one month, two months, or 6-7 months. At this reasonable timeframe, the General Staff currently does not assess the situation as one which could lead to war. Ararat Mirzoyan evaluates the military-political situation based on a period that not only looks at 1-2 months but rather considers a reasonable timeframe, which could exceed 6 months to one year."
