Today We Have No Opportunity to Fight Against Azerbaijanis: Commander of YEKM

According to Mikaelyan, for 20 years Azerbaijanis had been acquiring modern weapons and ammunition, while the previous Armenian authorities were preoccupied with mismanagement and corruption.

The president of YEKM, Sasun Mikaelyan, is in favor of the border demarcation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as he sees no alternative in the current situation. He made this statement during a commemoration ceremony for the victims of October 27 at the Yerablur military pantheon.

“I support the demarcation because today we have no opportunity to fight against Azerbaijanis. For 20 years, Azerbaijanis have been purchasing modern weapons, while our previous authorities have been involved in mismanagement,” said Mikaelyan.

He emphasized that the volunteer forces have always stood by the authorities and will not attempt to engage in “political games.”

Mikaelyan stated that demarcation is necessary for Armenia to become a free and independent state, something that, according to him, has not been achieved for many years.

Regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, Mikaelyan mentioned that he has never lost hope for Nagorno-Karabakh. “The issue is raised in international forums, and diplomats are working to ensure that the people of Artsakh return to Artsakh,” he added.
