Armenian Boxer Defeats Azerbaijani Opponent, Becomes Gold Medalist
Armenian boxer Rudolf Garboyan, competing in the 51 kg weight category, has secured victory over Azerbaijani Nijat Huseynov in the finals of the European Championship for under-22s taking place in Bulgaria. This was reported by the Armenian Boxing Federation.
Today marks the final day of competition at the European Championships. “Rudolf Garboyan defeated the Azerbaijani and became the European champion for under-22s. He has been awarded the gold medal of the European Championship for under-22s,” the statement said.
Also representing Armenia, Ruslan Aslikyan in the 57 kg weight category won a silver medal, finishing second in a tough match against Georgia's Gori Aivazyan.
Among the 13 weight categories for boys, Armenia has finalists in 4 of them. The competition is not over yet, with Arthur Sahakyan in the 60 kg category and Harutyun Hakobkhoian in the 67 kg category still set to compete.
It is worth noting that 21-year-old boxer Elida Kocharyan also fought for the title of European champion in the 60 kg weight class against Ukrainian Tatyana Dovgaly on October 19. In a fierce and challenging match, she excelled in the third round and secured victory.
