How Long Will Israel's Operation in Lebanon Last? - Foreign Minister
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has stated that the military operation, which began with Israel's incursion into southern Lebanon targeting the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, will last for a few more weeks. The official made this remark in an interview with the German newspaper Bild.
“I think it will last for a few more weeks in the south. I believe this is a realistic solution against Hezbollah. The world must change the reality in Lebanon, and now it is possible to alter the situation in Lebanon, weaken Hezbollah, and enable other forces, such as the Druze and others, to distance themselves from Hezbollah. Our interests are not about a political solution in Lebanon, but rather our own security and the return of our citizens to their safe lives,” said Katz.
On September 23, Israel announced the launch of Operation “Arrow of the North” in Lebanon. On October 1, the Israel Defense Forces initiated offensive operations in the southern part of the country. The aim of the operation is to eliminate the threat from Hezbollah in order to safely return 60,000 displaced Israelis to northern border settlements.
