Damage Reported Following Earthquake in Turkey
Turkey's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced that a 5.9 magnitude earthquake has caused partial collapses of three buildings, but there are no reported casualties.
"Following the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 in Malatya, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) and our relevant institutions continue to assess the situation in Malatya, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, Elazığ, Batman, and Tunceli provinces. There have been partial collapses in a total of three buildings in Malatya, Şanlıurfa, and Elazığ," the minister wrote on social media platform X.
He also stated that the emergency hotline received "374 calls and messages, of which 341 were notifications about the situation and 33 were requests for assistance."
