Video: Investigative Committee on the Stabbing Incident of a Man on Isakovan Street
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has reported that an urgent investigation was conducted by the Malatia-Sebastia administration's investigative division in Yerevan regarding a murder case that occurred on October 14, 2024.
On the same day, reports were received about a man stabbed on Admiral Isakov Avenue, near the Argavand crossroads, necessitating an ambulance. At 11:57 AM, another report came in from the ambulance station, indicating that a man had died from stab wounds at the Argavand junction.
A criminal investigation was initiated under Part 1 of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code by the Malatia-Sebastia administration's investigative division of the Yerevan Investigative Committee. An examination of the crime scene revealed and collected blood-like traces, a knife, a bag, syringes, and a container filled with a greenish plant substance. Electronic devices containing footage from surveillance cameras were also seized for thorough examination, along with testimonies from eyewitnesses.
At the gas station located on Isakov Avenue, an investigation was also conducted concerning the crime scene and surveillance footage. Clothing with blood-like traces was also confiscated from the gas station.
Given the factual data obtained from the preliminary investigation, it was determined that on October 14, 2024, between 11:00 and 11:30 AM, a 41-year-old resident of the Armavir region, while driving a "Mercedes C 180" vehicle from Ejmiadzin to Yerevan, picked up a 36-year-old passenger from the "Zvartnots" community in Armavir. A dispute arose regarding the transportation fee above the standard rate along the road from the Argavand village junction to Isakov Avenue, which escalated into mutual insults.
The argument continued outside the vehicle, during which the 36-year-old man, armed with a knife he had brought, intended to injure the driver. He struck the driver on the elbow and attempted to flee. However, the driver pursued him and, with the intention of unlawfully taking his life, inflicted stab wounds to the right and left front surfaces of the man's chest, causing injuries incompatible with life.
Based on sufficient evidence gathered, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the 41-year-old man under Part 1 of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code. A decision was made to arrest the defendant, who was at large, for presentation before the court, and this has been assigned to the police. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
