Over 112,000 People Evacuated from Kursk Region

Following an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, over 112,000 individuals have been evacuated from the Kursk region of Russia. This information was provided by the Russian Ombudsman, Tatyana Moskalkova, who cited data from the Emergency Situations Ministry.

Moskalkova clarified that more than 100,000 evacuees have relocated to stay with relatives and acquaintances. Additionally, over 12,000 people, including 3,685 children, have been moved to medical and social institutions, children's camps, and temporary accommodation points.

According to Moskalkova, a total of 960 air defense facilities have been opened in 65 regions of Russia, where 30,415 individuals are currently located, including 7,670 children. These evacuees are not only from Kursk but also from Belgorod and other regions.

Meanwhile, she reported that 40,000 residents of the Kursk region have either refused evacuation or have returned home. Moreover, Moskalkova stated that they have received over a thousand requests from the relatives of migrants from the Kursk region, whom they are trying to locate after the Ukrainian armed forces seized several settlements there.

“I have sent a letter to Ukraine’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, asking for information about the number of residents from the Kursk region who have been forcibly removed from their homes,” Moskalkova said.
