EU Ambassador: We Will Add Another 30 Million to the Budget for Artsakh Armenians
We have received a specific task from the European Council to develop relations between Armenia and the EU in various directions. Since then, the EU and Armenia have been working together to uncover new opportunities.
In his speech at the conference titled "Crossroads of Peace: Uniting Security and Democracy," EU Ambassador to Armenia Vasilis Maragos stated, "Joint efforts yield results because there is a common political commitment. The EU has supported and will continue to support Armenia in various sectors such as the economy, the judicial system, and regional ties, of which peace is also a part."
He noted that during a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen presented a resilience and growth program on April 5, which includes 270 million euros in grant support to Armenia over the next four years.
"As part of the economic and investment program, over 600 million euros have been invested in grants and loans. We have also established an investment platform and are working in the fields of nuclear and aviation security. We are also concerned about the fate of the Armenians in Artsakh. We have invested over 100 million euros in one year, and an additional 30 million has been decided to be added to the government budget as budgetary support, so that we can share the burden with you that is placed on the shoulders of the government," he said.
