New Legislation for Registering Vehicles for Artsakh Residents

Individuals displaced from Artsakh can register ownership of their vehicles through an unobstructed, simplified, and privileged process. This decision was made during today’s meeting of the Armenian government's cabinet.

As a result of displacement, light passenger vehicles that do not constitute private property have found their way into the Republic of Armenia. Despite having actual users, these vehicles are still not considered legal objects of ownership.

“This has created the necessity to resolve the issue of state registration of ownership rights for these vehicles through a simplified process, emphasizing the priority of protecting the rights of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh,” the rationale of the decision states.

During the state registration of property rights, beneficiaries will not be required to provide a certificate of full compliance with vehicle property tax obligations.
