What Caused the Death of the 15-Year-Old Student? Investigation Details

On October 7, 2024, the police department of the Ararat region received a report that on the same day at 11:30 AM, a group from the New Erznka community transported the body of a 15-year-old local resident to a medical center after they found him deceased.

In connection with the incident, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has initiated a criminal case under Article 155, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, categorizing the death as sudden. The initial investigation includes examinations of the incident site and the external inspection of the body, which revealed no signs of bodily injury.

Representatives of the school administration and teaching staff from the New Erznka village school, as well as classmates of the deceased child, have been questioned. Preliminary information indicates that the 15-year-old student died during a physical education class while playing volleyball, due to a sudden deterioration in his health.

A forensic examination has been appointed to determine the cause of death. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
