Investigative Committee on the Death of Soldier Vahe Bagraty Harutyunyan
On October 6, 2024, the RA Ministry of Defense received a proper report from the Vardenis Police Department regarding a manifest crime. It was reported that on the same day, around 10:00 AM, the body of Vahe Bagraty Harutyunyan, a serviceman from the artillery division of the N military unit, was discovered approximately 30 meters away from the firing position, with a gunshot wound to the head.
The Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case under the features of manifest crime provided by part 2, point 2 of Article 522 of the RA Criminal Code, forming an investigative group.
During the pre-investigation of the criminal case, urgent investigative and procedural actions were undertaken. The crime scene was examined, relevant documents were obtained, an external examination of the body was performed, and samples were taken with the participation of experts. Forensic medical, forensic genetic, forensic ballistic, and forensic toxicological examinations have been appointed.
Interviews have been conducted with servicemen who were on duty at the firing position on the day of the incident as well as before it.
The investigative body has been tasked with carrying out operational intelligence measures to obtain information regarding the actual circumstances of the incident and other details of significance for the proceedings.
