Russian Foreign Ministry Assesses Threat of Potential Russia-US Clash

In an interview with RIA Novosti, the diplomat responded positively to the question of whether Russia’s willingness to engage in a prolonged confrontation with the US means that all possible scenarios of events are being considered in both political and military confrontations.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated that the potential for geopolitical or armed confrontation depends on the actions taken by the US. “We warn them against further escalation. Because it is impossible to endlessly play the geopolitical games they have been playing for a long time, which have essentially sparked the current open conflict and security crisis in the Euro-Atlantic countries,” he said.

Ryabkov emphasized that Washington is mistakenly believing that endless attempts to test Russia’s strength will not lead to much harsher counteractions than those currently being taken. He clarified that Russia is doing everything possible to increase its economy's resilience to sanctions, which have taken on significant volumes and a self-sufficient nature.

Considering that the West is decisively heading toward Russia's strategic defeat, the country needs mobilization and an understanding that it faces a serious adversary.
