The weekend is approaching, the weekend will come, we will see: Kocharian
The opposition has not had a problem in delivering its message to the public. Huge media outlets and TV channels have been covering Galstanyan from morning till night. This was stated by the Chairman of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee, Andranik Kocharian, in a conversation with NEWS.am, responding to the opposition's claim that yesterday the appearance of Bagrat Srabazani on Public Television was their first victory.
“Petros Ghazaryan emphasized yesterday that there has never been a problem; there has always been an offer to engage in dialogue, and they have always avoided it. Yesterday, it was also stipulated that he should make a statement, and even after the statement, he was again avoiding answering questions. He was so evasive that he had a notebook with him, gathering some thoughts, but he couldn’t articulate those thoughts without the notebook regarding point 9. There was no understanding of how his presence was related to the political agenda, where he came from. Why did he show up in Tavush and then disappear? They came here following the government, and those who propelled their government remained in the shadows, leaving them alone. The public, recognizing this, has left them alone again,” he said.
Kocharian assured that there is no anxiety within the government regarding Bagrat Srabazani's activities. “The ones creating concerns and governing are themselves, but the personnel driven by those concerns are no longer present. Just look at how he behaved in his interactions with the police forces and leadership, saying he would cut them off,” he added.
In response to a comment that the police chief referred to him as 'humbal', the ruling party member said: “The police chief has not reacted to him; that is documented. The police are a forceful unit and can say more, but the issue of trampling a clergyman is not about that; it’s about delivering spiritual words, which he should not allow us to ignite desires for forcefulness among us. He is now trying to label everyone, discredit them, insult them, but is very distressed that real opinions about him are voiced in the environment with which he and his close circle do not agree.”
He expressed confidence that the movement led by Bagrat Srabazani will not succeed. “I see with very high probability that if Galstanyan’s movement was supposed to succeed, it should have happened in May. If they did not succeed then, despite having laid a super-investment package to shape that individual’s political outlook, there is no reason to expect success now. Have you seen how many times the word ‘ner’ is used daily? Nothing changes from that. When the host of the same show says, 'this was not said that way, why are you lying?' he is trying to respond with deceit to the perspective presented by the host. The weekend is approaching, the weekend will come, we will see,” he concluded.
