The Reasons Behind Samvel Aleksanyan's Ban from Entering Russia

Businessman and former MP Samvel Aleksanyan has been denied entry into Russia due to certain business activities involving the well-known Armenian businessman Ruben Tatulyan in Sochi. This information was reported by 24news.am.

According to the media outlet, Aleksanyan has been unable to enter Moscow for about a week, while his family members have crossed the Russian border without any issues.

Tatulyan has been wanted since 2023, and reports suggest that he has left the territory of Russia. Russian media have indicated that the businessman is suspected of committing fraud.

It is noteworthy that the Russian Federation has recognized 10 Armenian businessmen as persona non grata, with the names of 9 of those on the undesirable persons list remaining unknown. However, according to information circulated by one of the Telegram channels, the list is reportedly headed by former MP and businessman Samvel Aleksanyan from the Republican Party of Armenia.

The same channel also noted that Aleksanyan was unaware of his ban.

Lurer.com attempted to contact Aleksanyan's wife, Shogherina Mkrtchyan. "If I may ask, should I address him regarding issues related to Samvel Aleksanyan, so please do not reach out to me. I am not aware of anything, and I believe it would be best if he answers your questions himself," she stated in an interview with the media outlet.

When asked how she could be unaware that her husband was denied entry to Moscow and was reportedly sent back after a 6-hour wait at the airport, Mkrtchyan replied, "Well, it doesn’t matter that he is my husband; I may not be aware of everything. As much as I would like to answer your questions, I might not even be correct, because I am not aware of everything you are mentioning, so I don't think it is right for me to respond. I am not a public figure and do not want to answer any questions," concluded Shogherina Mkrtchyan.
