Photos: What Did Pashinyan and Macron Discuss

The meeting between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and French President Emmanuel Macron took place at the Élysée Palace. The interlocutors discussed issues pertaining to the Armenia-France multifaceted agenda, highlighting the importance of continuing consistent efforts towards the development and strengthening of friendly relations.

Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the ongoing support of friendly France and highlighted Armenia's readiness to implement steps aimed at the development of all sectors of mutual interest.

The French President reaffirmed his unconditional support for Armenia, as well as his willingness to consistently develop bilateral relations between France and Armenia.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister addressed the outcomes of discussions regarding the draft peace agreement with Azerbaijan, noting that 80 percent of the points in the draft have been agreed upon, and Armenia is ready to sign the agreement based on this and continue further discussions.

Nikol Pashinyan underscored the importance of steps towards ensuring peace and stability in the region, expressing the belief that signing the agreement would contribute to resolving this issue.

Issues related to the Government of Armenia's "Peace Interconnection" project were also discussed. Nikol Pashinyan stressed that Armenia is ready to proceed with the unblocking of regional communications on the basis of sovereignty, legality, reciprocity, and equality principles.

Emmanuel Macron expressed his country’s support for the Armenian Government’s steps aimed at peace and stability, while also welcoming the "Peace Interconnection" project.

They also addressed the social issues of individuals forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian Government’s housing provision program. In this regard, Pashinyan and Macron emphasized the importance of consistent support from the international community in addressing and resolving existing issues.

The Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of France also discussed matters related to Armenia-EU cooperation. Nikol Pashinyan indicated his expectation for continuous support from friendly France in the context of Armenia’s cooperation with the EU. Simultaneously, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the role of the EU mission in Armenia and highlighted France’s significant role in initiating talks on visa facilitation with the EU and in the question of support for Armenia from the European Peace Fund.
