Illegal Hunting of 'Lori' Bird Using Electronic Caller
The Environmental and Mining Inspectorate of Armenia reports that during the intensified control period from September 11 to 26 of this year, cases of poaching were recorded as part of a continuous fight against illegal hunting and fishing.
In the consolidated community of Vedi in the Ararat region, a citizen identified as H.H. illegally hunted a 'lori' bird by using a prohibited hunting device, an electronic caller. H.H.'s double-barreled hunting rifle of type 'TOZ-63', along with 29 rounds of ammunition and the electronic caller, have been confiscated.
Additionally, a resident of Geghhovit village in the Gegharkunik region, S.H., illegally caught 'kish' and 'behlu' fish from the nearby Argichi River using a hand net. Administrative proceedings have been initiated regarding these incidents, and measures of responsibility have been applied.
Inspections in the Republic's hunting grounds continue. Reminder: Weapons and other means of personal ownership used during illegal hunting are subject to confiscation by the court upon request of the Environmental and Mining Inspectorate.
