Universities to Close: New Draft Legislation Circulating

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that a draft law on "Higher Education and Science" is currently circulating in Armenia. According to this draft, the license granted to universities will stipulate a minimum threshold for student enrollment, which cannot be less than 4,000. If this law is adopted, universities with less than 4,000 students will no longer be operational.

This includes pedagogical universities, the Brusov State University, agricultural universities, and institutes for physical culture, theater, and cinema, as well as conservatories and academies of art and public administration, as well as regional universities. This move appears to be a preparation for the merger of these institutions.
