12-Year-Old Boy Inflicts Injuries on Classmate, Resulting in Brain Contusion; Parent Calls for Fair Resolution

A 12-year-old boy, A. A., the son of 36-year-old Anna Grigoryan from the Kotayk region, is studying at the Gетargel village secondary school. About two weeks ago, the boy was assaulted by a classmate, resulting in physical injuries.

In an interview with SHAMSHYAN, Grigoryan stated, "On that day during recess, a child named Haik came up to my son, started pulling him, and began hitting him on the head, causing my child to bleed from his nose. He went to wash up. When he returned, the teacher asked what had happened, and other children said that Haik was the one who hit him. A couple of days later, when he was supposed to go to football, he came back crying, saying that his head hurt and he couldn't stand on his feet. I called an ambulance; they came and said they were aware that a hit occurred and offered to take him for an X-ray, but there it was determined that he needed a CT scan. He was brought to the 'Saint Astvatsamayr' medical center in Yerevan, where they diagnosed a brain contusion, but they said he needed to undergo a CT scan.

At the 'Arabkir' medical center, the CT results showed that the bones were untraumatized, and it was soft tissue contusion, but there was nothing serious. We forwarded all of this to the juvenile inspector, but there has been no response from the school. When I tell the parent that their child did this, they say, 'What did he do? They just had an argument.' Today, I spoke with the investigator about the status of our case, and they said that since there were no fractures, only contusion, they are unable to proceed. I demand a fair investigation, and that those responsible be punished. I’m not saying that this child should be expelled from school, but at the very least, they should apologize, and the teachers should ensure that such actions do not happen again, as this is not the first incident of its kind."
