A Huge Parking Lot Will Be Constructed at Upper Lars

A parking lot will be built for trucks at the 'Upper Lars' border checkpoint. This was announced by the head of North Ossetia-Alania, Sergey Menyalov, on his Telegram channel. According to him, the issue was discussed during a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev in Moscow.

'Today, one of the main problems is the expansion of the infrastructure at the 'Upper Lars' checkpoint. In light of the anticipated increase in traffic flow, a parking lot for 700 trucks will be constructed on the way to the checkpoint,' said Menyalov.

Upper Lars often experiences large queues, especially during the holiday season and during the summer due to an influx of trucks loaded with agricultural products. In winter, traffic can be complicated due to potential snowfalls along the Gudauri-Kobi stretch of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international highway.

About 150 Armenian trucks pass through the 'Upper Lars' checkpoint daily. This checkpoint is currently the only land route connecting Armenia with Russia.
