Is Iran Behind Assassination Attempts on Trump?
Representatives from Donald Trump's presidential campaign have announced that US intelligence has warned the former president of threats to his life from Iran.
According to a statement released by the campaign, Trump has been informed of "real and specific assassination threats emanating from Iran, aimed at destabilizing the United States and sowing chaos in the country." The statement does not clarify whether these are new threats or if they have been previously reported.
The Iranian authorities have not responded to BBC's request for a comment on this statement. Previously, Tehran has repeatedly denied accusations from Washington regarding Iran's attempts to interfere in US affairs.
Trump wrote on the X social media platform (formerly Twitter) that "Iran is seriously threatening his life."
“Intelligence has determined that organized and systematic attacks (against Trump) have intensified in recent months,” said Stephen Chen, the director of communications for Trump's campaign.
“All law enforcement personnel from relevant agencies are working to ensure that the presidential candidate remains safe and that the elections are conducted without external interference,” Chen added.
