Why Serge Sargsyan Will Not Attend the Mother Cathedral

On September 28, at the Mother Cathedra of Holy Etchmiadzin, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, a ceremony for the consecration of the Holy Muron will take place, followed by the reconsecration of the Mother Cathedral on September 29.

168.am has directed several questions to the office of the third President of Armenia, Serge Sargsyan, to confirm whether he has received an invitation and what decision he has made regarding participation in the ceremonies.

"Yes, the third President of Armenia has received an invitation from the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin to attend the ceremonies scheduled for September 28 and 29 for the Holy Muron consecration and the reconsecration of the Mother Cathedral. Serge Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the Catholicos of All Armenians for the invitation and stated that, unfortunately, he cannot be present at these events, as he finds it impossible to participate in any event in the same space with Armenia's current anti-national rulers," the office of the third President of Armenia responded.

Furthermore, the third President had informed the Supreme Patriarch of his decision days ago during a visit to Holy Etchmiadzin upon the invitation of the Supreme Patriarch, where he familiarized himself with the extensive works performed at the Mother Cathedral and discussed critical national issues with the Catholicos.
